Geir Bjørklund, MD, is a medical researcher and scientific advisor with a focus on nutritional and environmental medicine. His work examines how trace elements, micronutrients, and environmental exposures affect human health, with emphasis on chronic and neurodevelopmental disorders.
He is the founder and president of the Council for Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (CONEM), an international network of clinicians and researchers in nutrition, toxicology, and environmental health. He has authored or co-authored more than 400 scientific publications and book chapters across nutritional biochemistry, toxicology, neurodevelopment, and public health.
Bjørklund holds editorial roles in several peer-reviewed journals, including service as deputy chief editor of Metabolic Brain Disease, advisory editor of Archives of Toxicology, and section editor for Current Medicinal Chemistry and Current Pharmaceutical Design. He is a member of the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), has contributed to expert reports for the Norwegian Board of Health on dental restorative materials, has served as a reviewer for the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Israel Science Foundation, and is a board member of Tandhälsoförbundets Forskningsstiftelse (Dental Health Association Research Foundation) in Sweden. He has received honorary professorships at medical universities in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan for contributions to environmental and clinical research and scientific communication.
